Diki is an attractive
Buddhist nun in modern day India, in the Tibet Buddhist capital in
exile in Dharamsala. Her father Tenzin was formerly a Tibetan freedom
fighter, trying to free Tibet from the communist Chinese and restore
the Dalai Lama to power. Tenzin was trained and funded by the US CIA,
his activities tragically led to the death of his wife and so he had to
raise their young daughter himself. At this point, Tenzin has renounced
violence (in the Buddhist tradition) and become a pacifist monk and
raising his daughter Diki as a nun. Both have vows of celibacy.
Near Dharamsala, Diki
is taking a long walk with her dog near a stream in the wilderness. She
bathes nude in the remote river and then by chance encounters a US
soldier named Sam, who is on leave and is vacationing in India. By
accident, Sam is forced to travel with a cat in a cage. Sam also
decides to skinny dip in that same Dharamsala stream and then comes face to face with
the naked Diki.
They stand up and silently consider one another. Sam awkwardly comments
that Diki's dog isn't wearing any clothes. Diki responds that Sam's
"dog" isn't wearing any clothes either, although she is joking and is
referring to his penis. Sam jokingly admits that his cat (in the cage)
isn't wearing any clothes either, but that Diki's pussy is also naked
(Diki only has a dog, not a cat), so Sam is making a pun as well. The dog (Golden Retriever) and cat are very attracted
to one another. While Diki and Sam stand there naked in the hot sun, a
summer shower starts pouring, seductively drenching them. They stand
unmoved for awhile.
The dog starts swimming in the stream. Diki
suggests that Sam's purring cat might like to be let out of her cage so
that she can swim with the dog. Sam says that that might be pushing
their luck (a reference to Sam swimming in Diki's stream).
Also, Dharamsala is in the Himalayas of India and the snow
capped mountains are stunning.
Diki tells Sam to release the cat from the cage. If the cat and Sam are
meant for one another, even if the cat runs off, the will be reunited
in another lifetime....so let it be...
Sam has military tattoos and Diki has Buddhist tattoos. They compare
and contrast. His are military skull and corss bones, hers of life.
They are they yin-yamg of one another.
Dickie: "I am not as corruptible as the monks. Nuns are a tough nut to
crack.
Sam: Your nipples say otherwise.
Dickie: Dharamsala is known for it's
Himalayan breezes.
Sam is a Marine.
Dickey: What is you military specialty. Sam: Military intelligence.
Dickie: An Oxymoron. Sam grimaces and Dickie mistakenly thinks that Sam
doesn't know what an oxymoron is. But in actuality, Sam's feelings are
hurt, but he then responds "Contradictory".
Sam teases Dickie that she is too scrany or too fat to get a guy
(obviously unture, she is beautiful), that is why she has the Persis
Kambata vow of chastity. Dickie challenges Sam to nude yoga at the Dharamsala
stream (with the dog and cat watching). Navy Seal Sam can keep up.
In reality, Sam wants to talk to Tenzin, former CIA agent/guerilla
fighter for Dalai Lama and Dickie's father.
Sam knows where Tenzin's supposedly deceased mother is. Tenzan would
like to know.
We see the attraction between them, but Diki is a celibate nun and they
walk away from one another.
Later they encounter one another again in the city of Dharamsala, due to the antics of Sam's alpha
male soldier buddy Chris. Sam wins a bet and gets Diki to give him a
massage, which she gives him, but way too deeply and with too much
pain. The romantic competition is on.
Later, Diki's life will be in danger from violence and her father Tenzin will be forced to chose
between pacifism and his daughter's life. Perhaps Sam is actually with
military intelligence and his dealings with Tenzin are not accidental.
Sam has a cat that he he
traveling with named Enzo. A Buddhist woman told him that he needed to
travel with a cat, good karma. Diki is not traveling, she lives in Dharamsala, so she always has a
dog. Ironically, the dog and cat get along great and love one another,
but Sam and Diki have romantic and philosophical differences. Why can a
dog and cat get along, but people of the same human species can't?
Why is okay for the dog and cat to eat meat, but the human Diki is
required to be a vegetarian?
